Artist’s Cocoon – Six-Fours-les-Plages

A soulless, typical 1980s vacation apartment, barely 33 square meters, a small loggia… and the desire to transform it into a meaningful living space.

The story begins with emotion.
A friend confided in me about her mother's project, recently devastated by the loss of her husband.
She was looking for a new home, a simple, bright haven, close to her daughter who had already settled in the “Domaine de la Coudoulière”, overlooking the bay of Sanary-sur-Mer.
A place to rebuild herself, to continue living.

The apartment, originally a partitioned two-bedroom unit of 33 square meters, needed a complete redesign.
The goal: to open up the space, unify the layout, and breathe life back into what had been purely functional.
Every square meter was optimized, every opening reinterpreted.

The project was built around her—a painter with a keen eye for color and light.
We worked to reveal her world:

  • Paint the kitchen backsplash, adding a vibrant, pop-art touch, like a signature.

  • Create a black frame on the wall to connect the living and dining rooms without completely replastering, while establishing a graphic line.

  • Use her own paintings as a starting point to orchestrate the design: their colors, sizes, and textures guided the furniture choices and perspectives.

The loggia, transformed into an artist's studio, now extends the living space.
An open space with views of nature and the sea, conducive to both creativity and tranquility.

The result: a cozy one-bedroom apartment, both intimate and radiant.
A simple, tasteful renovation that breathes new life and warmth into a standardized apartment.
A space that reflects its owner: free-spirited, refined, and profoundly human.

Sold a few months later for a handsome profit of €40,000, this project remains, above all, an emotional success—the story of a place that has become a refuge, and of an architectural gesture that has transformed the ordinary into the essential.
